Modern engines run torque to yield (stretch) head bolts. For this reason, head bolts MUST be replaced once you’ve removed the cylinder head. The allowable elasticity of these head bolts is a requirement of the overall function of modern engine design.
When tensioning bolts, an accurate tension wrench and angle gauge will be required to achieve correct clamping forces of the cylinder head gasket.
MDS Head Bolt Kit BKNS1300 requires the following Torque Specifications (Nm):
ALL BOLTS - Stage 1 = 98, Stage 2 = Loosen all bolts, Stage 3 = 34, Stage 4 = +80°, Stage 5 = +80°
