What’s the difference between a Bare Head and Assembled Head?
A Bare Head is the bare bones casting of the cylinder head with no extra components included while an Assembled Head come pre-fitted with internal parts like valves, springs, seals and in some cases camshaft/s. The main difference between the two being that bare heads allow for customisation allowing you to pick and choose what goes in your build whereas assembled heads are prebuilt and are perfect for quick drop-in installation.
Why choose a Bare Cylinder Head?
The advantages of a bare cylinder head over assembled is that while it doesn't include any internal components like valves, springs, seals, retainers or camshafts. It make it a cheaper option if you want to reuse your parts from an old head, like springs and valves and other reusable components. It also allows for full customisation freedom of the valve train. This lets you pick and choose which parts you want to use, like high performance or specialised springs to suit your engine build.
